[RECHERCHE & ART] 🚀 Plein phare sur le projet européen UNVEIL à Metz !

Financé dans le cadre du programme #HorizonEurope #MSCA, UNVEIL s'apprête à révolutionner la conservation du patrimoine. L'idée ? Utiliser l'Évaluation Non Destructive et les technologies numériques de pointe pour sonder les secrets des peintures et des œuvres d'art 3D sans jamais les abîmer !

UNVEIL en quelques chiffres : 

• 21 partenaires impliqués à travers toute l'Europe 
• 12 doctorants recrutés et formés dans un environnement multidisciplinaire combinant l’ingénierie, les sciences du patrimoine et les technologies numériques (recrutement en cours)
• 2 grandes catégories d’œuvres d’art ciblées : les peintures et les œuvres d’art en 3D
• 9 actions de formations collectives prévues à destination des doctorants
• 48 mois de projets (mars 2026 à février 2030)

Cette première rencontre a permis aux partenaires et aux équipes support du CNRS de structurer la gouvernance et de préparer le recrutement des futurs talents internationaux. 

Pour finir la journée en beauté, les participants ont pu échanger lors d'une visite au Musée de La Cour d'Or, suivie d’un dîner au Grenier de Chèvremont.

The starting whistle has blown for the #MSCA UNVEIL project (Unified NondestructiVe Evaluation of hIstoricaL artifacts).

Coordinated by Alexandre Locquet, CNRS researcher, this European project officially launched its activities during a kick-off meeting at Georgia Tech Europe University in Metz on March 23 & 24.

Funded under the #HorizonEurope #MSCA program, UNVEIL is set to revolutionize heritage conservation. The idea? To use Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE) and cutting-edge digital technologies to uncover the secrets of paintings and 3D artworks—without ever damaging them!

UNVEIL by the numbers:

• 21 partners involved across Europe
• 12 PhD students recruited and trained in a multidisciplinary environment combining engineering, heritage science, and digital technologies (recruitment ongoing)
• 2 main categories of artworks targeted: paintings and 3D artworks
• 9 collective training actions planned for PhD students
• 48 months of project activities (March 2026 to February 2030)

This first meeting allowed partners and CNRS support teams to structure the project's governance and prepare for the recruitment of future international talents. To wrap up the day, participants enjoyed a private tour of the Musée de La Cour d'Or, followed by dinner at the Grenier de Chèvremont.
